GUITARIST
WELCOME TO MY WEBPAGE
Here you can find some biog details, listen to my playing and find out about guitar tuition....
I started playing guitar aged 15 and quickly developed an obsession with the instrument and the music of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep, Yes, Jeff Beck and later, after several year's break when I was away in Tibet learning the ways of the Force, the music of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Bach, Sibelius and Stravinsky. The order I've listed these influences mirrors my development as a musician and guitarist; so the journey roughly began with blues/rock guitar and moved quickly into jazz and fusion via Western classical music, which is mainly where my inspiration as a composer has come from.
The diversity of my musical obsessions over the years is reflected in the projects I've been involved with. On the next page you'll find tracks from when I was with Low Stroke, which was saxophonist Chris White's experimental blues-fusion group; from the first album I played on and co-produced for Gypsy Fever, which is a 7-piece London-based band mixing Balkan-ethnic sounds with Gypsy styles; also included are 3 of the more guitar-based tracks from the first album of my new quartet Silence|Beyond: and finally, a few recordings of jam sessions with some of the great players I've been fortunate enough to get to know and play with in the last few years.
Also, if you're looking for guitar tuition from someone who loves to teach the instrument and who can help you find your voice as a songwriter/composer then I've included a page where you'll find everything you need to know to make that happen. The links are below:
